homeless ministry

The homeless ministry gathers on the third Sunday of each month to feed the homeless and minister to them at the downtown Phoenix Library.

On that Sunday, we drive down to the library and hand out food and clothing; most importantly we lay hands on the less fortunate and pray with them.

"Then the KING will say to those on His right hand, 'Come you blessed of My Father inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in, I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you visited Me, I was in prison and you came to Me.' Then the righteous will answer Him saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give You drink? Or when did we see You a stranger and take You in or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick or in prison and come to You?' "And the KING will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.' " Matthew 25:34-40

WARNING: This activity is highly addictive and fulfilling!

To see the joy and appreciation on the faces of people who are usually discarded as trash themselves, is such a fantastic blessing to everyone who wants to participate; it truly is an awesome experience, not to mention the treasures you are making for yourself in heaven! Come and be blessed and give out blessings at the same time!

Homeless Ministry Donations

If you feel led to purchase and donate items to support this ministry, you can find a list of needed items below. However, don't worry if you cannot afford to donate any items, it is not required to participate. We still need your help to be HIS hands and feet to help distribute these items and pray for HIS lost sheep.

Some people feel led to contribute with purchases, some with investing their time and others choose to do both; you may participate in any way you choose.

One of the biggest needs is for clean socks and underwear (more so than clothing even) as they rarely have occasion to wash their under-garments; this is true all year ‘round. However, in the winter, additional items are needed including jackets, sweaters and blankets.

You May Contribute in Several Ways:

1. You may purchase men’s or lady’s socks and underwear (always a necessity and the number one sought after items).

2. You can buy a loaf of bread, pack of cheese and lunch meat to make an entire loaf of sandwiches at your house on the Saturday before our service event (in the colder seasons we try to bring hot food for them).

3. Bring blankets and jackets in the cold seasons.

4. Purchase items for care boxes which include: toothbrush, travel sized toothpaste, dental floss, small men’s/lady’s deodorant, small shaving kit for men (1 razor and travel sized shaving cream), feminine hygiene items, travel sized shampoo, travel sized body soap. The care boxes are put together by the children of FBC as a help to this ministry.

5. If you are going through your closet and getting rid of unused clothing, why not donate to this ministry (be sure to separate men’s from lady’s clothes).

Please hold on to all your donations until the day of this service event!
Storage is limited at the church, as well as our own homes.

Thank you in advance for your help.
